There are many types of stainless steel, such as cnc machining stainless steel 304 and 303, which are more common, but why most stainless steel machining manufacturers have the same feeling: stainless steel is difficult to process. In fact, the reasons are nothing more than the following:
- 1: The chemical relationship between the tool and the cnc machined material causes work hardening and low thermal conductivity of the processed material, which not only easily causes unusual wear, but also causes tool chipping and abnormal fracture.
- 2: Low thermal conductivity causes plastic deformation of the cutting edge and faster tool wear.
- 3: Built-up edge can easily cause small pieces of powder to stay on the cutting edge and cause poor machining surface.
- 4: The machining hardness causes the tool to wear faster and it is difficult to remove chips.
The existing solutions to the above machining problems are as follows:
- A: Select the appropriate tool: The tool for stainless steel should have excellent toughness, and the strength of the cutting edge and the bonding force of the coating film should also be relatively high.
- B: Sharp cutting edge line: The chip breaker has a wide margin to reduce cutting pressure, so that chip evacuation can be well controlled.
- C: Optimum cutting conditions: Improper machining conditions will reduce tool life.
- D: Use a tool with high thermal conductivity.
